NCsoft Launches City of Heroes Issue 13: Power and Responsibility

NCsoft announced the release of the new update to City of Heroes. Issue 13: Power and Responsibility introduces several features to the game. Macintosh players won’t be left out as open beta testing for the new Mac version of City of Heroes is just around the corner.

Pumpkin festival for Fall (Lineage)


One year ago, tragedy befell a small Pumpkin Village. The village was preparing to celebrate their annual Fall Festival when they heard a huge explosion! Thick black smoke covered the small village and there were ominous black clouds in the sky. This event marked the beginning of the destruction of Pumpkin Village by an evil turkey lord and his minions. Now the turkey lord has Aden on his mind and he is headed to our lands to try and take it over!

Free Realms Card Game?

Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) and The Topps Company announced an exclusive long-term licensing agreement allowing Topps to create a physical trading card game based on SOE’s upcoming and highly-anticipated online game Free Realms™. The physical trading card game complements the digital trading card game playable within Free Realms, allowing players to enjoy the game in front of their computer and around the world.

“Our online trading card games have been hugely successful, and the chance to take our digital trading cards into the physical world with an industry leader like Topps is a fantastic opportunity for us as a company,” said John Smedley, President of Sony Online Entertainment.

Lineage II Update: Kratei’s Cube

The Lineage II Gracia update (Part 2) includes Kratei’s Cube, a PvP and PvE addition that allows players to fight against one another and creatures in a twenty-minute timed match. Unlike other events, players earn points for killing other players, as well as creatures within the Kratei Cube’s maze of rooms. Players with the highest point total after the round is over earn Fantasy Isle Coins, which can be exchanged at the Fantasy Isle’s NPC Paddies for rewards. Finding and slaying a rare creature is worth up to 50 points and could mean the difference between victory and defeat! Whenever you die in the Cube, your CP, MP and HP are fully restored, so, if there is time left on the match, you can go right back into the fray with no point loss. Kratei’s Cube is available at the Fantasy Isle area and is accessible to players level 70 or higher.

Flash Games the future of casual MMOs?

Artix Entertainment, which four weeks ago added a browser-based MMORPG called AdventureQuest Worlds to its three-title lineup, has revealed their site is getting 400,000 unique hits per day (12 million per month), a stunning number which compares favorably with Blizzard’s World of Warcraft’s recently announced 11 million subscribers.

AdventureQuest Worlds Claims WoW-sized Numbers


The browser-based MMORPG AdventureQuest Worlds boasts their site is getting 400,000 unique hits per day and compares themselves with Blizzard’s World of Warcraft.

Artix Entertainment, a small, Florida-based family-owned studio that offers the game along with three other RPG titles AdventureQuest, MechQuest, and DragonFable, attributed the high rate of traffic to a high retention rate and player loyalty, offering fun games, and a commitment to updating their games every week. AdventureQuest Worlds provides players with adventures battling armies of monsters in real-time combat and enjoying new weekly quests alongside thousands of other real players. Players can customize their characters with armors, capes, helms, and custom-crafted weapons from the Blacksmith’s Shop at any level. Players have the freedom to change among different character classes at any time, and can level-up all of the classes to the max to unlock new skills and specialty shops along the way.

Aurora Blade


Aurora Blade, a browser-based MMORPG, is set to be released at the beginning of December. With a backdrop of Western sorcery and knightly combat, players act as warriors and fight with monsters and other evil forces with only the strength of their swords and the strength of their will. They fight to protect their land and maintain their way of life. Aurora Blade has four classes, and some of the features you’d expect in an MMORPG, like level-grinding with a community of players, various equipment, skills and items, forging and refining functions, PK functions, team combat, guild activities, instances and other content. It doesn’t seem like players will get bored in Aurora Blade Online.
